FAQs
- In general, what does a homeowners policy for condominium owners protect?
An American Family Insurance homeowners policy for condominium owners offers three major categories of protection: property, supplementary property and liability coverage.
Property coverage helps protect your possessions against events such as fire, lightening, windstorms, hail, explosions, riots, aircraft damage, smoke, vandalism, broken glass, falling objects, theft, loss of use and more.
Supplementary property damage coverage helps provide protection for events such as collapse, debris removal, inflation, pollution cleanup and more.
Liability coverage compensates an insured up to the policy limit if he or she is legally liable for bodily injury, property damage or medical expenses due to a covered accident. Examples include sports activities, acts of pets or liability due to unpaid volunteer services.
- What is replacement cost coverage?
- This coverage pays the cost to restore or replace damaged or destroyed property without deducting depreciation.
- Does this policy cover flooding?
- A property policy (homeowners, condo or renters) excludes flood coverage. However, your American Family Insurance agent can help you purchase flood insurance through the federal government.
- Does this policy cover sewer back-up?
- Your American Family Insurance property policy does not include coverage for sewer back-ups. American Family sells an optional endorsement that helps provide protection against these losses for eligible risks. Contact an American Family agent for more information.
- Is jewelry covered with a homeowners policy?
- Policies provide up to a certain amount of coverage for loss of jewelry if the loss is the result of a covered peril, such as theft. You may purchase an optional endorsement that provides increased limits for risks of accidental direct physical loss or damage. You may also schedule your individual items of jewelry for a further increase in limits.
- What is Identity Fraud Expense Coverage?
- This optional endorsement helps cover the expenses associated with re-establishing a person’s damaged credit, such as legal fees, loan reapplication fees, telephone and certified mail charges, notary expenses and lost wages for any time taken off work to correct the fraud. Learn more.
- What is Personal Computer and Electronic Equipment Coverage?
- This endorsement provides coverage against accidental direct physical loss of personal computers and electronic equipment.
