How can you prepare for an emergency such as a stalled vehicle?
When you’re stranded on the highway – or in your driveway – you have enough to worry about. Determining where help will come from shouldn’t be your concern. With American Family Insurance’s Emergency Road Service coverage, a simple phone call to 1-800-MYAMFAM means help1 is on the way – 24/7, 365 days a year. The service’s sign-and-drive component keeps your attention focused on your most important concerns – the destination, and the passengers with whom you share the ride. For more information or to purchase coverage, please contact your local American Family Insurance agent. 1Services are performed by and/or through Cross Country Motor Club, Inc., except in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, Wisconsin and Wyoming, where services are performed by and /or through Cross Country Motor Club of California, Inc.
Should you choose a safer car?
If you drive a small vehicle or high-performance sports car, you’re more likely to be involved in a serious crash, according to the Highway Loss Data Institute. Other cars are expensive to repair because of their specialized design or construction materials. To learn which cars cost insurance companies more to insure, and therefore cost you more in premiums, visit the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Web site. There you’ll find details on shopping for a safer car as well as up-to-date safety ratings.
Should you raise your deductible?
A higher deductible lowers your auto premium; however, you risk paying more out-of-pocket expenses if you suffer a loss and file a claim. If higher claims payments are a concern, consider stashing away the money you save by raising your deductible so it’s available should you need it.
What is Auto Rental Reimbursement?
While your vehicle’s damages are being repaired, this additional coverage will pay for all or part of a rental vehicle, depending on the limits you choose. This endorsement is only available to customers who carry both comprehensive and collision coverage.
What is auto Lease/Loan Coverage protection?
A new vehicle depreciates significantly the moment you drive it off the lot, which could create a gap between what the car is worth and what you still owe on it. Lease Loan Coverage, an optional protection for vehicles that are leased or financed, pays the difference in the event of a total loss.
What is Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage?
This endorsement pays a specified amount for the accidental death or specific injuries of the insured or the insured’s family members when riding in, or struck by, a vehicle. Accidental death and dismemberment insurance is there to help with your family’s ongoing financial security.
What are typical auto policy coverages?
A car insurance policy typically provides coverage for liability, collision, comprehensive and medical expenses or personal injury protection.
What if your vehicle is stolen?
American Family Insurance will pay $20 per day ($600 maximum) for transportation expenses incurred as the result of the entire theft of an insured vehicle, provided you have comprehensive coverage.
When renting a vehicle, are you covered by your car insurance policy?
In most cases, whatever coverage and deductibles you have on your own car would apply to a rental not being used for business. If you have dropped either comprehensive or collision coverage on your own car, however, you will not be covered if your rental vehicle is stolen or damaged in an accident. Before renting a car, please call your insurance agent and credit card company to determine the precise conditions of your coverage.
